Take full control of your smart home with ZenHomeâs automation features. Automations allow your devices to work together seamlessly based on specific conditionsâso your home responds to your routines without you lifting a finger.
Whether you want your lights to turn on when you arrive home or your thermostat to adjust automatically at night, the ZenHome app makes it simple to set up custom automations.
What Are Automations?
Automations are rules that tell your devices what to do, when to do it, and under what conditions. These can be based on:
- Time of day
- Device activity (e.g., motion detected)
- Location (entering or leaving an area)
- Environmental triggers (temperature, humidity, etc.)
How to Create a New Automation
- Open the ZenHome App
Launch the app on your mobile device and log into your account. - Navigate to âAutomationsâ
Tap on the âAutomationâ tab located at the bottom of the screen. - Tap âCreate Automationâ
Press the â+â button to start building your custom routine. - Set the Trigger
Choose a condition that will start the automation:- Time-based (e.g., every day at 6 PM)
- Device-based (e.g., motion detected by a sensor)
- Location-based (e.g., when you arrive home)
- Define the Action
Select what should happen when the condition is met:- Turn on lights
- Adjust thermostat temperature
- Activate or deactivate a smart plug
- Send a push notification
- Customize Your Settings
You can optionally:- Set delays between trigger and action
- Add multiple actions
- Choose specific days of the week
- Enable or disable notifications
- Save the Automation
Name your automation (e.g., âEvening Routineâ or âAway Modeâ) and tap Save.
Example Automations You Can Try
- âWake Up Routineâ
At 7 AM on weekdays, turn on bedroom lights and increase the thermostat to 72°F. - âAway Modeâ
When you leave your home, turn off all lights and enable motion detection on cameras. - âMovie Timeâ
When the living room light is turned off, dim the smart bulbs and lower the blinds.
Tips for Effective Automations
- Start simple: Use time-based or single-device triggers first.
- Group actions: Create scenes that control multiple devices together.
- Use âConditionsâ wisely: These help fine-tune when automations should or shouldnât run.
- Test your automations: Make sure they behave as expected before relying on them daily.
